Collision in Werkendam

A passenger ship was in an allision with the steel-laden 'Elmare' in Werkendam at the Beatrixhaven in pos. 51° 49' N 004° 53' E on on Oct 9, 2025, at 7 a.m.. The barge was moored near a bridge in Beatrixhaven, and the skipper of the passenger vessel was unable to evade in time. The crews of both ships escaped unscathed. The 'Elmare' suffered a leak in the hull and deve,´loped a list. Rijkswaterstaat with the patrol boat 'RWS 71', the KNRM and the fire department inspected the vessel. It turned out to be stable, meaning there was no immediate danger. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) and police were on site too, and a diver was called in.The 'Elmare' would have to be lightered to get the leak patched.
