Former harbour ferry suffered engine damage

On May 24, the 'Förde Adler', which had been offering round trips on the Kiel Fjord only since May 1, suffered an engine damage and had to be taken out of service. The ship has been sidelined at the railway station quay in the port of Kiel for repairs and remained stationary there as of May 29.

Schilksee became an eagle

The 'Schilksee' has been re-painted in the livery of the Adler Company and has been renamed 'Förde Adler' for the new owners in February 2026. On May 1, it commenced harbour tours in the port of Kiel after the handover ceremony and an inaugural trip from the SFK Kiel to its new owners on April 30. Harbour ferry sold to Adler Company

The Kiel Towing and Ferry Company SFK has sold the 'Schilksee' to the Sylt based Adler Ships shipping company and have reached an agreement with the municipality of Laboe regarding the continuation of the tours in Kie, starting Easter 2026. A contract regarding the use of the dock was signed with the municipality of Laboe on Nov 7, 2025. There is also a verbal agreement with the SFK and the City of Kiel's municipal holding company regarding the use of the SFK docks. The “Schilksee” can thus continue operating on its established route with departures at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. in 2026. The "Schilksee" can also be offered for charter trips on the Kiel Fjord. The ship will enter te dry dock at the EWD in Kiel to have some work done on the ship before the formal handover to the Adler Shipping Company in January 2026.
