Engine room fire off Vigo

The 'Galicia' auffered a fire of an auxiliary engine with a subsequent blackout in the evening of Oct 29, 2019, in the Rio Vigo estuar, while approaching the port of Vigo en route from Zeebrugge. Two tugs took the ship in tow 700 meters from the mussel estate of Barra-Liméns and pulled the ferry to the berth where she was docked at 9.20 p.m.

Aboard the "Galicia", sailing between Vigo and Tangier, a stowaway was found in the aft area of the ship on May 13, 2019. He managed to hide during the whole route until the ship arrived at the Cies Islands from Dakar. He was discovered during the mooring maneuver on the island. He took advantage of the moment when the ferry dropped anchor to leave the ship and ended up in the sea. A patrol of the Civil Guard participated in the rescue.
