Detention in Zhangjiagang

The 'Galini' was detained at Zhangjiagang on Oct 15, 2025, by the Tokyo MoU authorities. An initial inspection revealed nine deficiencies, three of which were regarded as seriously and grounds for a detention. The inspection covered several areas of the ship, while specific operational control details were not disclosed. On Oct 17, the bulk carrier, which had arrived en route from Taicang on Oct 7, was released and left the port en route to Port Klang with an ETA as of Oct 24.

Engineer fell over board and was rescued 12 hours later

Papadopoulous Donysis, the 2nd engineer of the 'Galini', was knocked over bord in the Arabian Sea 625 nautical miles west of Agatti Island on Feb 27, 2022. The MRCC Mumbai was alerted in the morning. After more than 12 hhours, the container m/v 'Barzan', en route to the Suez Canal and 60 miles away, which had diverted to the scene. Coast Guard helicopters would not have reached the scene, given the gread distance.
