Drone damaged tanker towed through Bosphorus
On Oct 27, the 'Golden Sapling', which had run aground in shallow water at Alaçam in the Samsun province, after it was heavily damaged in a drone attack in the Black Sea, 90 nautical miles off the port of Sinop, on Aug 27, and later refloated, was towed through the Bosphorus by the tug 'Aras Salvor' (IMO: 8206961), assisted by the 'Kurtarma 8' (IMO: 9598610) and 'Kurtarma 11' (IMO: 9854399) of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. The waterway was barred for other ships for safety reasons during the passage. The ship was to be to be broken up at the Öge Ship Dismantling Facilities in Aliağa, İzmir, where it arrived on Oct 31 and was finally beached on Nov 1.
