NPA Arrests Mauritanian Ship With Rotten Fish at Port Harcourt

The Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) has arrested a chartered vessel from Mauritania, which berthed at the Port Harcourt Port, following the discovery of a consignment of frozen mackerel fish, believed to be unsafe for consumption. LEADERSHIP gathered that the vessel, MV Taisetsu, which arrived at the Port on Friday, December 9, was in the process of offloading its cargo on December 13, 2011, when workers at the wharf were repelled by a strong stench oozing out of one of the vessel’s hatch.
