Tug sank on Taubton River

The 'Guardian' sank on the Fall River, MA, on March 7, 2026. The Fall River Fire Department started cleanup operations which were continued around the clock, as diesel fuel and oil had been leaking from the tug. Multiple booms as well as absorbent pads have been deployed to prevent the spread of contaminants. The tug 'Texaco Fuel Chief' was also listing more, tied to the former 'Crusader' and ' Lyman'. Two cranes were expected on site on March 12. In 2020, the tug was laid up at Fall River, Massachusetts, and had remained there since.
