Grounding off Gulen

Tue Jun 16 09:24:44 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Hav Nordic', enroute from Grangemouth to Halsa with seven crew members on board, ran aground in the Sletringen area of the Gulen municipality, Vestland (Lat.60.9103 Lng. 4.7725), on June 15, 2026, just before 04:00 a.m. Technical problems had caused an engine failure, and the ship drifted ashore amid gale force winds. The crew managed to drop anchor before the vessel drifted completely aground, but it has pounded to the bottom. A tug was called and pulled the vessel off again. On June 16 at 2 a.m. it was safely berthed in Storholmen near Bergen.

Mon Feb 17 13:11:35 CET 2025 Timsen

The 'Hav Nordic', en route from Stavanger with seven crew members on board, ran aground at Eggesbøneset near Mjølstadneset in Fosnavåg on Feb 4, 2025, at 5.40 a.m. UTC (Lat. 62.3186 Long. 5.6951). The vessel lost its rudder, took on water in its ballast tanks and was listing to port side. The lifeboat "Idar Ulstein" (MMSI: 257393000) was called to assist. Another vessel went on standby at the scene until the "Idar Ulstein" arrived on scene. The lifeboat managed to refloat the vessel, which was then towed to the dock at Mjølstadneset, where it was safely berthed at 7.30 a.m. UTC. The tug 'Hunter' (IMO: 9468372 ) started towing the 'Hav Nordic' to Sczcecin on Feb 16 with an ETA as of Feb 23 for permanent repairs, proceeding at a speed of five knots.
