43 migrants rescued off Crete

On Oct 27, 2026, the 'Lady Khadij', owned by the Al-Reedy company and enroute from the Larnace Offshore Terminal to Koper, has carried out a rescue operation for 43 migrants from a precarious boat near the island of Crete. On the whole 22 migrant boats were intercepted between Oct 19 and Oct 27, carrying a total of 1,052 people. One fatal incident was reported among them, when six people drowned on Oct 19 near the island of Samos. Besides the 'Lady Khadija', the 'Ivyan' and the 'Lady Zhera' intervened south of Crete in the past 72 hours to pick up a total of 135 people from precarious boats.
