Wed Oct 14 19:35:37 CEST 2026 Timsen

On Oct 12, the 'Lodestar Way', which had been damaged by drones in Sochi, was towed by tugs from Trabzon through the Bosphorus after temporary repairs. The vessel, on which crew injuries had been reported in the attack was pulled through the Bosphorus by the 'Ramazan Bey' (IMO: 721082) of the Pge. Tug & Salvage, which already had taken it to Trabzon accompanied by the 'Kurtarma 6' (IMO: 9463176) and 'Kurtarma 8' (IMO: 9598610), belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM). The ship, on which the wheelhouse and parts of the accommodation area completely burnt out, was headed to the Tersan Shipyard in the Yalova region for permanent repairs.

Mon Sep 14 20:45:01 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Lodestar Way' was struck by a drone off the coast of the Port of Novorossiysk with the wheelhouse and parts of the accommodationarea gutted. Following the incident, the crew was forced to abandon ship, leaving the ship to drift uncontrollably in the Black Sea. In response to an urgent request for assistance, an operations team of the PGE Salvage deployed to the area. Navigating challenging and high-risk conditions, the team reached the vessel, conducted the necessary inspections, and safely secured the vessel for towing. Following the towing operation, the vessel was transported across the Black Sea to Turkey and safely delivered to a shipyard in Trabzon on Sep 5, 2026.

Ambra assisted distressed migrants

Fri Oct 02 21:56:04 CEST 2020 Timsen

On Oct 2, 2020, Malta’s Armed Forces were towing a distressed vessel that had previously been assisted and monitored by the 'Ambra'. The organisation Alarm Phone received a distress call from 38 migrants onboard the distressed vessel in the night of Oct 1. The 'Ambra', enroute from Annaba to Gabes, diverted to the scene and spent around 12 hours monitoring the situation until an AFM boat was spotted. The 'Ambra' reported back to Alarm Phone, saying the AFM had failed to repair the engine and began to tow the boat northwards to an unspecified destination. The 'Ambra' left the scene shortly after the AFM showed up. On at least one occasion, the Armed Forces of Malta attempted to push a migrant boat back towards Libya, and on another occasion attempted to push a boat with migrants in the direction of the Italian island of Lampedusa. The efforts of Alarm Phone to contact the Malta Rescue Coordination centre were unsuccessful.
