New catamaran to start Morro Jable route

Wed May 20 11:05:20 CEST 2026 Timsen

Balearia Canarias has announced that the “Mercedes Pinto," will begin service on June 5, 2026, on the Morro Jable route, after having left the Naval Gijon Shipyard on April 20. Tickets and timetables are now available, with three daily trips (7:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 05:00 p.m. from Las Palmas and 9:30 a.m., 02:30 p.m. and 07:30 p.m. from Morro Jable). The first and last trips will be operated by the “Mercedes Pinto,” while the second will be served by the “Volcán de Taidía.” The company revived the “Three in a Row” concept, meaning that Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Morro Jable will be connected daily with a high-performance service. The “Mercedes Pinto” was sailing towards Arrecife, Lanzarote on May 20 to conduct docking trials on the afternoon, as well as trials in Playa Blanca, Morro Jable, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Balearia was working on the presentation of its new flagship vessel in the coming days at the ports of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Morro Jable.
