The impact forced the entire wheelhouse roof backward onto a car parked on the cabin, causing severe damage to the vehicle. Despite the damage to the wheelhouse, the vessel remained partially maneuverable and was able to moor at a suitable location along the Rhine-Herne Canal near Castrop- Rauxel in pos. 51° 34' N 007° 16' E. The safety gate itself appeared to have sustained only paint scuffing. Ship traffic was not disrupted by the allision. The police Duisburg launched an investigation on site.
