Port calls cancelled due to engine trouble

Wed Sep 16 17:47:48 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Royal Princess suffered engine trouble during the current Alaska cruise. The ship departed Seattle as scheduled on Sep 12 for a seven-night Alaska voyage. On Sep 13, guests received a notice from the cruise line, stating that there was a technical issue with the engines, which did not compromise the safety of guests and crew, but limited the ability to maintain the speed required for the itinerary. The stop in Juneau, originally scheduled for Sep 14, had to be cancelled, instead, the ship spent an extra day at sea and headed directly to Skagway, where it docked on Sep 16 at 6:00 a.m. Due to the reduced speed, the ship was unable to make the subsequent stop in Ketchikan on Sep 17, so that the port was also off the schedule. From Skagway, the ship proceeded directly to Victoria, Canada, where it was due to dock on Sep 18 from 9:00 p.m. until midnight.

Medevac off Vancouver Island

Wed Jul 08 19:59:33 CEST 2026 Timsen

A passenger of the ' Royal Princess' was airlifted to hospital after requiring emergency medical care while the vessel was sailing off the west coast of Vancouver Island by the Canadian Armed Forces. The medical evacuation took place on June 19, 2026, after the passenger needed to be transported to a higher level of care while the ship was about 70 kilometres south of Brooks Peninsula, B.C. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Victoria aided with the response, dispatching a CC-295 Kingfisher search-and-rescue aircraft and a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter from 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron. After arriving on scene, two SAR technicians were lowered from the helicopter onto the cruise ship, where they assessed the patient and prepared them for the rescue. The passenger was transported to hospital for further medical care. Cruise ships cancelled calls at Puerto Vallarta due to violence after killing of cartel boss

Wed Jul 08 19:57:26 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Norwegian Bliss', 'Royal Princess' and 'Zuiderdam' have skipped planned Puerto Vallarta calls, due to violence, which spread across the region after a cartel boss was killed, sparking a shelter-in-place order from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. The 'Norwegian Bliss' canceled its call last week and was still monitoring the situation. The ship’s next call at Puerto Vallarta would be on March 4, 2026. The 'Zuiderdam' canceled its call on Feb. 23, as didthe ' Royal Princess', which added an overnight in Cabo San Lucas and called at Mazatlán on Feb 25 instead. Several ships were due to visit Puerto Vallarta next week in early March but cruise lines haven’t yet confirmed any definite changes. On Feb 24, the Jalisco state government said ‘order and stability have been restored’ in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara city.
