Possible spontaneous combustion in Vlaardingen

The fire department and the harbour master division were mobilised to the 'Rusader', which was berthed in the Koningin Wilhelmina Port in Rotterdam-Vlaardingen at the Vopak site, having arrived from Pontevedra on the late evening of March 24, 2026, on the night of March 25, after signs of a possible spontaneous combustion on board have been observed. The situation was currently stable. Several fire department officers and harbour master experts were continuously monitoring the ship to immediately detect any potential developments. On the afternoon of March 26, the emergency services were still working, and a fireboat was now also on standby. The current state of the situation was not yet fully known. On March 27, the tug 'Romira' (MMSI: 244620801) attended the ship.
