Four tankers hit by unknown projectiles in two days

Wed Sep 30 22:55:46 CEST 2026 Timsen

The 'Mersin Prosperity' (IMO: 9327554), operated by ADNOC, was struck by an unknown projectile while trying to transit the Strait of Hormuz on Sep 29, 2026.  Another tanker, the 'Sinbad', which was possibly involved in the shuttle operations that have arisen to get oil from the Gulf states to tankers waiting south of the Strait in the Arabian Sea, was hit too. It was last reported at Fujairah. Both tankers appeared to be making the transit in dark mode. On the whole, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported four vessels being attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Sep 28 and 29. The first tanker to be struck by an unknown projectile was the 'Al Funtas' (IMO: 9653408). The impact caused a fire onboard, which was later extinguished, and all crew members were reported safe. On Sep 29, besides the 'Mersin Prosperity' and the 'Sinbad', the 'Al Ruwais' (IMO: 9828405) was struck by an unknown projectile too.

Near miss off Brixham

Thu Dec 22 11:38:07 CET 2011 Timsen

On Dec 19, 2011, the Brixham 23-m-trawler "Sasha Emiel" was involved in a near miss with the "Neverlands Angel" 26 miles off Start Point. The Marine Accident Investigation Branc was looking into the matter, but stopped short of saying an investigation had been launched. The two vessels came within 20 metres of each other shortly before 1 p.m. off the South Devon coast. Brixham Coastguard filed a report after the incident. It was sent after the incident. The fishing vessel was to send a report after it returned to port on Dec 21. A fishing protection vessel overheard the incident and also sent information using an Automatic Identification System.
