Two injured in accident on pipe layer

Tue Jun 16 11:50:03 CEST 2026 Timsen

Two people were injured in an accident aboard the 'Solitaire' on the evening of June 15, 2026, in Rozenburg (Rotterdam). The victims were, in all likelihood, performing works on or around the ship. Exactly how the accident happened is was yet known and was under investigation. Emergency services were deployed on a large scale. Multiple fire engines, police units, and two ambulances rushed to the scene to provide assistance. The fire department's drone team was also called in. Using a drone, images of the ship were captured, among other things, to map the situation and support the rescue efforts. The two injured were examined on-site by ambulance personnel and subsequently transported to the hospital for further checks and treatment. En route to the incident, one of the fire engines experienced technical problems. Fluid leaked from the vehicle due to a burst hose. Despite the defect, the vehicle managed to reach the incident location. However, things went wrong again upon arrival. The fire engine struck the mirror of a police vehicle. The damage to both vehicles was to be handled through insurance. The fire truck was inspected by the technical service afterwards. The incident took place in an area where roadworks were currently being carried out. The exact cause of the accident was being investigated.
