Medevac off Galle
The Sri Lanka Navy medevaced a critically injured crew member from the 'Spirit of Tokyo' off the southern coast on the earlymorning of Nov 1, 2026. He had sustained a severe head injury in an accident aboard the vessel within Sri Lanka's Search and Rescue Region (SRR). Following a request for urgent assistance received through the MRCC Colombo, the Navy initially provided medical advice to the vessel and instructed it to proceed towards the Port of Galle. A Fast Attack Craft, P 451, attached to the Southern Naval Command, subsequently intercepted the ship off Galle Harbour and transferred the crew member ashore. He was then admitted to a private hospital in Galle for further treatment with the assistance of the vessel's local agent.
