Allision on the Mosel

On Sep 4, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the 'Viva One', enroute from Koblenz with 150 passengers on board, allided with a bridge on the Mosel at river kilometre 110.750 in Traben-Trarbach. The wheelhouse struck the "Old Wolf Bridge" (alte Wolfer Brücke) and sustained significant damage. The captain was seriously injured and transported to a hospital in Trier. Following the accident, the river cruise ship was able to dock at a pier in Traben-Trarbach. No structural damage to the bridge and no injuries were reported. The incident was documented by the Koblenz Water Police. Further investigations were pending. The ship was able to continue the voyage on the evening of Sep 7, after completion of temporary repairs of the wheelhouse and the permission of the relevant authorities, and arrived in Treis-Karden on Sep 8. Only a few passengers had disembarked the ship after the allision,.
