Head-on collision in Zaandam

On March 24, 2026, at 7.50 a.m. the 'La Vida' (MMSI: 244710209), en route from Koog-an-de-Zaan to Amsterdam, was in a head-on-collision with the 'Westlandgracht', enroute from Amsterdam to Nieuwegin, under the opened Prins Bernhard Bridge in Zaandam. The Port Authority was quickly on the scene. A police boat went alongside the vessels, which were subsequently moored near De Factorij at the west side of the Zaan after the incident. Havens- en Vaarwegen attended with the 'Zaanstad II'. The 'La Vida' appeared to have hit the sheet piling beneath the bridge. However, the bridge appeared to be able to open normally; traffic was not obstructed. The cement tanker berthed in Nieuwegin on March 25 after a short stop in Zaandam.
