Allision in Vänersborg

The 'Wilson Saimaa'. enroute from Mo i Rana with a cargo f quicklime, allided with a quay in central Vänersborg ear the Dalbo Bridge in the channel between Vänern and the canal in Vänersborg on May 11, 2026, at around 6 p.m.. Initially, it was reported that the ship was taking on some water, The fire and rescue service and police were called to the scene. No one was reported to have been injured. An investigation into the accident has been launched. The captain was arrested on suspicion of gross negligence in maritime traffic. After the allision, the ship was examined at the quay in Vänersborg by the the Swedish Transport Agency, which deployed divers for a hull survey. Two holes were discovered as a result of the allision. As of May 13, the ship remained moored in pos. 58° 23' N 012° 19' E.
