SPIRIT
On Nov 8, 2026, At 07:15 UTC, solo sailor Guy de Boer confirmed via sat phone he was ready to stop the 'Spirit'. He had been sailing away from the rescue ship overnight, delaying the operation 800 nautical miles off Rio de Janeiro. The new ETA for the helicopter extraction was 10:30 a.m. UTC. The yacht was moving at 1.3 knots with a heading of 90° in pos. 25° 27.96 S, 027° 21.77 W on Nov 8 at 08:15 a.m. UTC. Current local winds were 6-11 knots. The Brasilian Navy Corvette 'Barroso (V34)' was en route to rescue Guy deBoer, with a helicopter extraction planned. The situation in the South Atlantic had escalated rapidly. The McIntyre Golden Globe Race Organisation confirmed that American solo skipper Guy deBoer had officially declared a distress situation and requested an immediate medical evacuation. On Nov 7 shortly after 4 p.m. UTC, de Boer had contacted GGR reporting a severe deterioration in his condition stemming from his fall on Nov 2. He had lost the use of his left arm, cannot stand or maintain balance, and is unable to eat. Under GGR instruction, he has now activated his EPIRB. The MRCC Brasil with the 'Salvamar Sueste' has assumed coordination and issued a priority SAR message.
HUDA
The 'Huda' was targeted by a projectile, while at the anchorage area in the Gulf of Oman in pos. 25° 25' N 056° 42' E, off the port of Khor Fakkan, on Nov 7, 2026. All crew members were reportedly safe. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces disabled the vessel, after the crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to violate the naval blockade against Iran multiple times. A U.S. military aircraft fired precision munitions at the stern of the ship, disabling it, after CENTCOM forces directed the crew to abandon targeted spaces. The cargo vessel tried to depart regional waters after visiting an Iranian port. The vessel itself has been moved to a deep-water quay. Traffic from the ferry terminal was operating normally again. A formal case regarding the incident is being opened. LADY D
A significant Russian military sealift operation is currently underway, involving the 'Lady R' (IMO: 9161003), 'Lady D' (IMO: 9349289) and 'Maia 1' (IMO: 9358010) A second cargo convoy has been tracked navigating in formation, recently crossing the southern Baltic Sea just north of the Polish coast. Following military loading activities at Baltiysk throughout late October, involving other vessels like the 'Ascalon' and 'Anastasiia', this group was now sailing outbound. The 'Lady R' has been operating with intermittent AIS signals. There were three highly probable destinations, Tobruk with an ETA as of Nov 8-9, 2026, Tartus or Lomé with an ETA as of Nov 13-14. On Nov 7 at 5.32 a.m., the convoy split south of Gedser, with the 'Lady R' and 'Maia 1' having aborted their transit through the Danish Straits. The ' Lady R' executed a circular U-turn maneuver in the Fehmarn Belt and was sailing eastbound at a reduced speed of just 3.4 knots. Also the 'Maia 1' turned back east. Both vessels were under joint US and EU sanctions, likely restricting their transit through European territorial waters and the Danish Straits. The Lady D' was meanwhile continuing its northbound trajectory. The vessel was under US sanctions only, lacking the EU restrictions that halted the rest of the convoy. A fourth, unacknowledged vessel sailing in the center of the convoy, a vessel of approximately 110 meters transmitting no AIS data. The signature was highly consistent with a Russian Navy frigate or corvette providing an armed, dark escort. The Danish patrol boats 'P 523' and 'P 524' conducted a tactical handover at 12:40 a.m. UTC to maintain continuous surface tracking. The 'P 524' was shadowing the northbound 'Lady D'. The German patrol ships 'Bamberg' and 'Neustadt' have taken over the eastbound tracking of the 'Lady R' and 'Maia 1' . The German patrol aircraft PCT636 also conducted close passes over the formation. Swedish Coast Guard aircraft were actively monitoring the operational area from above.
HAMADA S
On Jan 7, 2020, the Civil Protection, National Guard and Customs Guard units evacuated the crew of the 'Hamada S' which had run aground on the coast of Bizerte near Errimel at the the Rimal beach on Dec 11, 2019, at dawn. Among the 11 sailors were two Syrians, two Egyptians and six Indians. The decision to take them off was made for humanitarian reasons because they no longer had enough provisions on board. They were repatriated on Jan 6, 2020.. The ship had been broken down off Bizerte two days ago, but the local authorities had denied access to the port and requested the ship to accept tug assistance. The captain refused to pay for the towing services after lengthy negotiations before the ropes broke due to bad weather on Dec 10. The ship had arrived from Algeria and was bound to a repair yard in Menzel Bourguiba, but was prevented from crossing the canal by bad weather. The stormy seas had brought it stepwise closer to the coast. The civil protection and the Maritime Guard as well as the regional authorities represented by the governor of the region arrived at the scene. The wreck remained in situ as of April 2025, but had developed an increased list to starboard site since the inital grounding.
